The June 2026 Secretary/Treasurer’s Report was read by Jeff.

Ongoing Business:

  1. Dennis provided a solar report to the membership.
  1. Testing – No applicants registered for testing this month according to Kevin.
  1. Carnegie Building Update – Jeff provided an update about the current status of the Club’s bid for a space in the Carnegie Building.  The four groups contending for space in the building have met and none of the other groups oppose HARC’s residency in the basement of the building.  The Club will be able to use the East room of the basement for operations and equipment and also utilize the shared space upstairs for Club meetings.  There is no restroom downstairs.  Jeff also shared pictures of the building, specifically the windows and the building’s access points for the Club members’ reference.
  1. Meshtastic –  Jeff provided an update about Saturday’s installation of the Club’s Meshtastic solar node, which is a RAKwireless Wismesh Repeater Mini.  Jeff shared some pictures of the repeater site and the installed Meshtastic node and described the relatively simple installation process.
  1. Lewis and Clark On The Air – June 6 – 21.  Kevin reported that there will be a get-together via Zoom on Wednesday evening (from 7 to 8PM) for those who have volunteered to participate in the event.
  1. Wagon Train – June 17-27.  Kevin reported that there will be a Zoom meeting on Wednesday evening (from 6 to 7PM) for those who have volunteered to participate.
  1. Summer Field Day – June 27-28.  Anna and Whitley are currently planning to go with RVs.  Fred may attend on Saturday and Sunday and may tent camp.
  1. By-laws revisions – The proposed by-laws revisions were presented in writing to the Club at this meeting.  Anna will send out an email to notify the members that there will be a vote on the proposed changes at next month’s meeting.

     New Business:

  1. Website – Rhett asked the members present what they currently use the Club’s website for.  A variety of answers were given.  Rhett solicited ideas for content for the site and inquired as to how the site is currently hosted.  Rhett said that he could mock up a new site and present it for the Club’s approval.  Jeff told Rhett that he would share the login credentials to the Club’s hosting service with him.
  1. 4th of July Parade in Boardman – Anna reported that Club volunteers are to gather at noon and the parade will begin at 2 PM this year.  Kevin, Michelle, Todd, and Jeff said that they will be available to volunteer at the event.
  2. HARC Go-Kit – It was proposed that the Club loan its go-kit to Alan Polan for use at the “Whale Run 2026” ARES exercise on June 14th at the Airport.  Kevin made a motion to lend the go-kit to Alan for use during the event and the motion was seconded by Todd.  The motion passed unanimously.
  1. .02 repeater long term plan – Jeff brought the idea of replacing the 02 Yaesu repeater with a GE MASTR II.  A discussion of the pros and cons of the possible change were discussed.  Jeff will send out an email to the club detailing the pros and cons and notifying the membership of another discussion and possible decision at the next monthly meeting.
  1. Dennis presented an article about Elon Musk’s spaceship and also his proposal to put a constellation of one million satellites into orbit in the near future. He also mentioned another article about a meteorite that exploded over the east coast on May 30th.  He then mentioned that Venus and Jupiter are coming together and will be at their closest point on June 8-9 right after sunset.
  1. Jeff mentioned that the Club PO box contained a letter from the Oregon East Symphony in Pendleton soliciting advertisements in their printed programs.  Nobody seemed interested in having the Club  purchase an ad.
  1. Fred mentioned that Whitley left the keys to the repeater shack with him and that he can be the point of contact should something go horribly wrong with the repeater(s) in Whitley’s absence.

Announcements:
