The November 2023 meeting minutes and December 2023 Secretary/Treasurer’s Report were distributed via email by J. Kelso on 12/01/2023.

A motion was made by Kevin to adopt the November meeting minutes as presented and was seconded by Todd.  The motion passed unanimously.

The December 2023 Secretary/Treasurer’s Report was read by Jeff K.

Ongoing Business:

  1. Dennis provided a solar report to the club.

       2.    GSCH update – Alan said that he, Chuck, and Anna have been compiling a list of the frequencies that they want to program into the radios at Good Shepherd.  Chuck provided a printed sheet of the frequencies that they’ve come up with so far.  A couple of corrections were made verbally by members of the club, and Chuck said that he’d work on updating the list with those corrections and then entering the data into the RTS software.  President Sam mentioned that we should program the Go Box radios with the same frequencies as the GS radios.

       3.  New Ham Welcome Kit – Anna made a binder and presented it and its contents to the members present. The contents included a welcome letter with club officer contact information, a gift certificate for one year of free HARC membership, a membership application, a frequency chart and net listing sheet, and a band plan sheet.   She solicited ideas from the members present for improvement, and will also rework the HARC membership application to make it more pertinent to the club.  Anna will make one example of the kit so that it’s ready to hand to any new ham that may come to one of our meetings.

       4.  Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Outdoor School event – Tabled until next month.

     New Business:

  1. President Sam asked if club pre-approval of officer expenditures was within the realm of possibility, citing the need for Anna to spend money on the new ham welcome kits that she’d like to assemble.  Whitley moved that the club authorize Anna to spend up to $100 on welcome kit materials.  Motion was seconded by Kevin.  Motion passed unanimously.
  1. President Sam brought up the idea of purchasing 100 3” club patches to give to club members and to make available for purchase.  The estimated cost is approximately $1.80 per patch.  Sam doesn’t yet have all of the quotes from potential suppliers that he’s reached out to, but he would like to purchase the patches using HARC funds once he receives the quotes and finds the lowest bidder.  Mike moved to authorize President Sam to spend up to $200 on 100 HARC patches and be reimbursed by HARC for the expense.  Todd seconded the motion.  Motion passed unanimously.  Mike made another motion that all dues-paying members be eligible to receive one patch for free and the rest be made available for sale to club members at a price to be determined later.  Dennis seconded the motion.  Motion passed unanimously.
  1. President Sam said that there are three varieties of non-mesh orange vests available for purchase at the embroidery shop.  Sam will send these varieties out to the club so that the club may decide on which vest each member may like to purchase.
  1. Kevin offered an apology to guest Bob for missing (due to a lack of notification from the test scheduling system) the testing session that Bob had scheduled.  Kevin also notified the club that he plans to permanently move the testing sessions to Tuesday nights at 7 PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal/Lutheran church.

Announcements:

1.  Club Christmas Breakfast – Saturday, December 16th at Rayz Dayz, Umatilla at 8:00 AM.

2.  The Eagle Cap Dog Sled Races is looking for ham volunteers.  If interested, respond directly to the email that was sent to the club mailing list within the last couple of days.

3.  Winlink Thursday is taking place this Thursday.

4.  Kevin announced that he will miss the next two club meetings as he’s teaching a class on Monday nights.

The meeting was adjourned by AA7TH at 20:18.

Respectfully submitted by Jeff Kelso, W7JJK.
