Guests: Joan R.

New Members:

The May 2025 meeting minutes and June 2025 Secretary/Treasurer’s Report were distributed via email by J. Kelso on 06/02/2025.

A motion was made by Kevin to adopt the May meeting minutes as presented and was seconded by Todd.  The motion passed unanimously.

The June 2025 Secretary/Treasurer’s Report was read by Jeff.

Ongoing Business:

  1. Dennis provided an exciting solar report to the membership.
  1. Testing – Kevin said that we currently have no applicants for next Tuesday’s test session.  Kevin will leave the session up on the registration page until Wednesday or Thursday but then pull it down after that.
  1. Ione School Ham Radio Class – Todd said that the class had their last meeting on Thursday.  He received hand-made thank-you cards from the students.  Todd is going to stop by on Wednesday of this week to talk to the 7/8th grade science teacher to see if putting together a Technician class is feasible.  Todd called the entire endeavor “a success.”
  1. The Fourth Thing – President Sam solicited ideas for the Fourth Thing from the members present.
  1. LCTOTA – Kevin reports that the LCTOTA is a bust thus far.  Nobody from the club has made contacts as of yet because the HF conditions are so bad.  Kevin will try again over the next few days, and reports that we may have a good K-Index over the weekend or Monday.
  1. Pendleton Wagon Train – Kevin appreciates everyone who has signed up.  Dennis has signed up for Monday, Mike K. has signed up for Tuesday, Todd is scheduled for Wednesday, Alan is signed up for Thursday, and Jim D. has Friday covered.  Kevin thanked that group for their willingness to serve.  The Train will be using the 78 repeater again and will be just west of Divide Well, which is in the Pendleton ambulance service area.
  1. Repeater Interference – The Club purchased an Arcom RC-210 controller as part of an effort to tackle the interference problem. Whitley took the repeater controller and all of its components to assemble at home. Emery was not available at this meeting to recommend an amplifier for purchase.
  1. Field Day – Will be held on June 27-29 at Drift Fence, which is on Forest Service Rd. 52.  Whitley and Todd will be going, and Mike K., Anna, Emery, Todd’s wife, and Kira will be there.

     New Business:

  1. 13 Colonies Event – Kevin reminded the club that this event starts on 7/1, and the 13 original colonies will have special callsigns for the event.  Also, Philadelphia and England are in the mix to be worked in addition to the 13 colonies.  Participation in the event provides a “really nice looking” certificate.
  1. SK Radio Equipment – SK Tom Martin’s wife reached out to Kevin asking what to do with his equipment.  Kevin will go to her house in July or August to inventory Tom’s collection and bring it to the club.

Announcements:

       1.    Club Breakfast – Saturday, June 21st at Rayz Dayz, Umatilla at 8:00 AM.

The meeting was adjourned by AA7TH at 19:33.

Respectfully submitted by Jeff Kelso, W7JJK.
