The December 1st, 2025 monthly HARC meeting was held at Hermiston High School Room 313 and was called to order by President Sam at 19:01.

The November 2025 meeting minutes and December 2025 Secretary/Treasurer’s Report were distributed via email by J. Kelso on 12/01/2025. A motion to adopt the November meeting minutes was made by Kevin and seconded by Dennis. The motion passed unanimously.
The December 2025 Secretary/Treasurer’s Report was read by Jeff.
Ongoing Business:
- Dennis provided a solar report to the membership.
2. Testing – We have had no applicants this month, according to Kevin. He said that he has cancelled the test session.
3. Ione Radio Class – Todd reported that there was no update on this topic.
4. Hermiston Chamber Membership – Jeff, Kevin, and Michelle need to decide on a Tuesday date in March for the Chamber Connection radio interview and communicate it to the Chamber to get on the schedule.
5. Winter Field Day – We have a contract with the City of Hermiston to have Winter Field Day at EOTEC and President Sam will deliver it to EOTEC this week. Rhett and Anna discussed the possibility of mailing the postcards out for Field Day again this year. Todd made a motion to mail out postcards again this year. Abraham seconded. The motion passed unanimously. Sam asked that members come to the January meeting prepared to share if they plan to attend the event and if so, what equipment they plan to bring.
New Business:
- Christmas Breakfast / Dinner – Dennis said that our next Club Breakfast is our traditional Club Christmas Breakfast. Dennis asked if the club wanted to keep the event as a breakfast or change it back to a dinner. The members voted by show of hands to keep the event as a breakfast.
2. Inventory List – Anna mentioned that it is time for our bi-annual inventory. Anna asked that any items received since February 2024 that belong to the club be reported to her. She also announced that the Board of Directors should go through the inventory list and decide which items to keep and which items to discard. Anna said that she will send the inventory list out to the club mailing list.
3. 1.25m Repeater – Rhett has proposed that the club put a 1.25m repeater up on Silusi Butte in the shack. Rhett described his proposal to the club. Rhett will put together a list and bring forward a more detailed proposal for the membership to consider at a future meeting.
4. Bridge Road GMRS Repeater – Kevin mentioned that he and Michelle have installed a GMRS repeater. They brought the repeater in for the club to look at and Kevin said that he will have it up and running this week. It is a 25W radio on channel 15 and the PL tone is 136.5.
5. Quartzfest – Kevin and Michelle are trying to pull together a trip to Quartzfest, which is a mid-January ham radio event and RV camping opportunity in Quartzsite, Arizona. The website is at quartzfest.org.
6. Sam mentioned that we had a pair of new members join late in 2025 and pay their dues at that time. Michelle moved that we waive the 2026 dues for those two members and Todd seconded. Motion passed with two abstentions.
Announcements:
- Club Christmas Breakfast – Saturday, December 20th at Rayz Dayz, Umatilla at 8:00 AM.
- Dues are due at tonight’s meeting. Dues can also be mailed to PO Box 962, Hermiston, OR 97838.
